Protection is the main selling point of enclosures, and often that means from water as well as knocks and bumps. Indeed, water resistance is a top priority for many of our customers, so we go the extra mile to ensure our enclosures provide reliable protection.

That’s why we test them rigorously in our certified laboratory to meet the Ingress Protection (IP) standards outlined in EN 60529.

Here’s how it works: We use a range of test methods depending on the IP rating we’re assessing. For instance, to test for splash resistance (IPX4), we simulate water sprayed from all directions to confirm the enclosure keeps everything inside dry. For higher protection levels, like IPX7 or IPX8, we submerge the enclosures in water. For IPX7, they’re tested at a depth of 1 meter for 30 minutes, while IPX8 enclosures are tested at even greater depths and durations, depending on the specific requirements.

These tests help us ensure that our enclosures perform as promised in real-world conditions, whether they’re exposed to rain, pressure washers, or submersion.
