Dear Daniel,

Enclosure for switchboards offer a dual function. In addition to protecting the electrical equipment within, similarly to conventional solutions, they should also protect users from any direct or indirect electric shock. Therefore, they should prevent the ingress of dust and water by means of suitable ingress protection (IP) rating, offer suitable IK protection against impacts and ensure safety to operatives and the public by meeting IEC Protection Class II standards.

On top of this, it is quite a common requirement for switchgear protective enclosures to be able to offer a modular setup that can support interconnectivity. This helps segregate the architecture, providing isolated protection. Finally, this feature is highly appreciated by end users, as it can accommodate rapid expansions or modifications.

To address these needs, Spelsberg recommends using its GTi ISO series of distribution boxes for low voltage switchgear. These are made of robust polycarbonate to protect against a number of environmental factors and climatic conditions. They are characterised by a modular design with interconnected housings that can be quickly assembled together, supporting maximum safety and scalability.  Also, they can be prefabricated and integrated with short switch-off times, streamlining key projects.
