Hello
I need help with adding a rounded rectangular hole for a DSUB Connector. So I have been searching, but I havn’t found any way to to this.
Hi Neal,
Drilling irregular shapes into PCBs can be a tricky business. The material is thin and brittle and the smallest hairline fracture can lead to total failure. Depending on the type of material that you’re working with, there are two methods that we would suggest for creating a suitable space for the connector.
- It is possible to find D-SUB punch tools which will create the shape you are looking for.
- If a punch wont work then the best option would be to have the item CNC machined.
While Spelsberg can’t offer in-house services to help you with this activity, we do work closely with several 3rd parties who could produce a custom PCB solution. We are then able to install the PCB into one of our enclosures using our assembly service and deliver a product that’s ready out-the-box.
Thanks,
Chris
